Robin Peery, flutist and flute teacher
Robin Peery began her flute studies as a 9-year-old in Seattle with Jerilee Kechley and Dorothy Bjarnason. Robin was involved with the many quality Seattle music organizations as a young flutist including the Seattle Youth Symphony and the Seattle Young Artists Festival. Upon winning the Seattle Young Artists Concerto Competition as a senior in high school, Robin knew there was no other career for her. She went on to earn her Bachelors and Masters degrees from the Juilliard School as a student of Julius Baker.
Subsequently, Robin went on to win orchestra positions with the Boise Philharmonic and then the Memphis Symphony. After six seasons with the Memphis Symphony, Robin returned to Seattle, where she performs regularly with the Seattle Symphony and Seattle Opera. She also frequently records soundtracks for movies and television. Robin has enjoyed an 20-year association with the Carmel Bach Festival, where she has served as Principal Flute since 1997. Featured guest soloist appearances with numerous groups, including Philharmonia Northwest, the Memphis Symphony, the Evansville Philharmonic and the Carmel Bach Festival Orchestra.
Recent guest appearances include performances with Vancouver Symphony, Detroit Symphony and the part of the bird in the Magic Circle Mime Theater production of Peter and the Wolf with Seattle Symphony.
A dedicated advocate of musical education, Robin strives to promote awareness and enjoyment of classical music in all her endeavors, especially with children.
Robin resides in North Seattle/Shoreline with her husband and daughters...along with an aquarium of tropical fish and the cutest hamster ever...Poquito.
