Private Flute Lessons with Robin Peery
for children and adults
I appreciate my father for the many things he did for me, but supporting me in my desire to be a flutist was truly one of the greatest! When I came home from school in fourth grade after the first day at band and said I want to play the flute, my dad called around town and found a private teacher right away. I learned so much from my first teacher...I still played in band at school, but I immediately began to move through those early days of learning, learned easier ways to do things, and most importantly, gained a friend/mentor to help me on my journey.
In my over 20 years of teaching I have worked with all kinds of flute students, children and adults.
I have had students go on to major in music at leading conservatories, earning scholarships to schools, while other students go on to major in other academic areas all the while having their flute be a wonderful musical outlet. Both types of students benefit from the study of their chosen instrument, and enjoy the limitless world of music in a uniquely special way.
Expectations:
I expect students to practice daily so that we will achieve as much as possible during each lesson. Patience and persistence in practice equals progress, in music, and in all things in life. Having an experienced and devoted teacher by your side as you learn to play an instrument will make all the difference between quitting in frustration and cultivating a lifelong passion.
Location:
I teach primarily from my home, which is in the North Seattle / South Shoreline area, with easy access from I-5 and Aurora Avenue. Occassionally I offer private or group lessons in nearby schools.
